We’d like to recognize Yura as our November Athlete of the Month. Yuri has been a member since 2014 and has showed so much growth over the years. Yuri is a badass mom that loves CrossFit and spending time with family. She really loves to push herself in the gym to push her boundaries and develop new skills. Her dedication to her fitness and drive to improve is something that is admired by all that know her. It is with no pleasure that we will have to say goodbye to her as she moves to Mexico City next month. Before she got the chance to escape us we were able as her a few questions and find out a bit more about what makes Yuri tick.

  1. How long have you been doing CrossFit?

I have been doing CrossFit for about four years.

  2. Which class time do you attend?

    I practice at the 9 a.m. class.

  3. What made you decide to start CrossFit?

I started doing CrossFit because I was looking to lose weight but also because they said it was only for savages, lol. After that it just became a challenge every day that I enjoyed. (losing weight was a plus).

  4. What is your favorite CrossFit movement?

I enjoy doing the handstand walk because it was one of my biggest challenges when I first started off.

  5. What is your least favorite movement?

I don’t dislike any movement because most of them are challenges and I like challenging myself.

  6. If you could design a CrossFit workout, what would it be?

    21-18-15-12-9-6-3

50 ft. handstand walk each round

    Overhead squat 75#

    handstand pushups

    calories rowing

  7. What are your hobbies outside of CrossFit?

I love baking sweets, but my diet won’t let me. As well as sitting back with my family and having a movie night.

  8. Tell us something that most people don’t know about you.

I am not as shy as I look, it’s just that my English is terrible so it doesn’t allow me to socialize as much as I would like.

  9. What was your first CrossFit WOD?

I don’t quite remember but it involved wall balls.

  10. What is the biggest effect CrossFit has had on your life?

The greatest thing that CrossFit taught me was to trust in my abilities and to always strive to push myself out of my comfort zone.
